"The U.S. military said it was investigating an incident in Baghdad the same day in which helicopters opened fire on people milling around an abandoned U.S. armored vehicle after fighting on Haifa Street, in a notorious anti-U.S. area.

At least five people were killed, including a producer for Al Arabiya television. A Reuters cameraman was among those hurt.

A U.S. military statement said the helicopters were fired on from the vicinity of the armored vehicle before they attacked. Reuters TV footage of the incident showed no evidence any of the Iraqis around the Bradley vehicle were armed or had opened fire. "

Perhaps the US military thought they the civilians were Canadian?
