"A day at the White House for Rice University's national championship baseball team Monday might have been just as memorable if hosted by a president who didn't know a sacrifice bunt from a double steal.

But in President Bush, the team met a fan as well as a chief executive, the players said after an afternoon at the White House full of pomp and ceremony.

'He told us he watched every inning of the (College World Series) games,' said Chris Kolkhorst, 21, the Owls' left fielder. 'With everything else that the country is involved in right now, that was amazing.' "

You have to wonder how Bubba Bush finds the time for keeping up with College basebase. Two thoughts come to mind: (1) It could be another Bubba Bush lie. (2) That could explain the dismal performance of the Bush administration on the economy, foreign affairs and environmental issues.
